  • Q. When can I request an application?

    To request an application, please visit our website and complete the inquiry form, which will be available on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Please note the School receives a large volume of inquiries, and you may have to refresh the page to complete the form. If you have any questions, please call (212) 879-9764 to speak with an admissions representative.
  • Q. How old should my child be when applying?

    Children must be 2 years, 5 months by August 31 of the entering school year. The child needs to turn 2 years old by March 31 the applying year. Please note that our birthday cut-off for applications is firm.
  • Q. For how long will the inquiry form be available online?

    The inquiry form will be available on Wednesday, September 9 at 8:30 a.m. and will remain on the website for several weeks thereafter. If you are interested in requesting an application and the inquiry form is no longer active, please call the School at (212) 879-9764 and speak with an admissions representative.
  • Q. After I submit the inquiry form, what is the next step?

    Due to the high volume of application requests and limited meeting times, we are unable to accommodate every family that expresses interest in Episcopal. Applications will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Should we be able to offer you an application, you will receive an email with a link to create an account and complete the application online. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact you to schedule a virtual parent meeting with the admissions team. We will continue to offer families applications until every allotted appointment time has been filled. Should we be able to see additional applicants later in the process, we will reach out to you to schedule a parent meeting.
  • Q. Is there an application fee?

    There is an application fee of $60.00, which can be made online with a credit card. If you indicate an intent to apply for financial aid on the inquiry form, you will receive a code via email to waive the application fee.
  • Q. What is the yearly tuition?

    The youngest group of students (born December through March, called Group 1) come to school for two hours each day, Monday through Friday. Group 1 children come for either the morning session, 9:15 to 11:15, or the afternoon session, 1:15 to 3:15. Tuition for Group 1 is $20,200.

    Groups 2 through 8 come to school for three hours each day, Monday through Friday. Children in Groups 2 through 8 come for either the morning session, 8:30 to 11:30, or the afternoon session, 12:30 to 3:30. Tuition for Groups 2 through 8 is $22,500.
  • Q. Do you offer financial aid?

    Yes. The Episcopal School is a member of the School and Student Service (SSS), an organization that provides financial aid analysis for independent schools. Families have the option to indicate an interest in financial aid on the application form.

    If we are able to offer your child a spot for the following school year, your financial aid package will be included with your letter of acceptance and enrollment agreement.
  • Q. How many spots are typically available to new students?

    Available spots for new students vary every year, depending upon the number of siblings entering into a particular group. The School maintains a strong student-to-teacher ratio, and strives for an even female-to-male student ratio.
  • Q. How many people are present during the tour and play date?

    Every step in the admissions process at The Episcopal School is highly individualized. In lieu of a traditional tour and play date for the 2020-2021 admissions season, each family will have a virtual parent meeting to learn more about the program, as well as a brief follow-up meeting to answer any remaining questions; this second meeting will also serve as an opportunity for the admissions team to meet your child.
  • Q. When are decisions sent out?

    Decisions for the 2021-2022 school year will be sent via email on Thursday, February 28, and parents are required to respond by Thursday, March 4. Deadlines are decided by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York.
  • Q. Does the School offer spring tours?

    Legacy families have the option of touring the School in the spring or the fall. Spring tours are conducted in April and May. If you are a legacy family, please call Jane Arnold to schedule an appointment.
  • Q. My spouse or I attended Episcopal. What is the application process for legacy children?

    Legacy candidates follow the same admissions procedure as the children of new families. Please visit our website beginning on Wednesday, September 9 and complete an inquiry form. There is a space on the inquiry form to indicate legacy status. Every effort is made to offer an application to legacy families.

    Legacy families also have the option of touring the School in the spring or fall. Spring tours are conducted in April and May. If you are a legacy family interested in receiving a spring tour, please call (212) 879-9764 to schedule an appointment.
  • Q. My child is older than 3 ½. Can we still apply?

    Yes. While most applicants are between the ages 2 years and 5 months through 3 years and 4 months, we do consider applications for children who are older.
  • Q. Is the Episcopal School a church-related institution?

    No. The Episcopal School is an independent, nonsectarian institution, neither governed nor subsidized by any church.
  • Q. Do most families at Episcopal live locally?

    While many families at Episcopal live in and around the Upper East Side, the School welcomes families who live in other parts of New York City.
