Building Community Through Books

With community as a core value at Episcopal, the School introduces various programming throughout the year to give children and families opportunities to become involved and give back.

After winter break, Episcopal hosts an annual book drive for Project Cicero. Project Cicero is a local New York City organization focused on building up classroom and school libraries in under-resourced public schools with help from community partners. Once donations are collected, thousands of teachers in need are given the opportunity to browse and select books. Typically, Project Cicero distributes around 150,000 gently used books each year and has distributed over 4.5 million books since they began in 2001. This year, the Episcopal community responded by collecting over nine full boxes of children’s books, helping spread a joy of reading and an appreciation for community.
