Episcopal's First Founders Day

On October 25th, 1961 The Episcopal School in the City of New York was founded. The goal was to offer a developmentally appropriate early childhood program for children in the neighborhood. The School was established as a stand-alone, non-denominational institution. Its purpose then, as now, was to give young children the best possible preparation for their ongoing education and for life.

This year, for the first time, the Episcopal community came together to observe Founders Day. Faculty, children, and parents came to school in their favorite Episcopal gear and school colors. Red, white, and navy blue filled the halls with school spirit.

Classes celebrated Episcopal and its history in their own ways. Children participated in fun activities, school trivia, and themed crafts such as decorating birthday hats to celebrate the school becoming one year older. Every child brought home a celebratory photograph and hand-decorated picture frame to remember their special day at Episcopal.

This Founders Day brought the Episcopal community together for a new tradition to joyfully memorialize another year in the School’s history, and each child’s special place within it.
